Description: 12 hours

Students will explore physical manual medicine and therapeutic procedures developing on understanding of how each physical therapeutics technique is used to benefit patient care.  This course will discuss the physiology of healing and repair as well as clinic maintenance.  Students will be able to identify instruments used for physical medicine modalities in the chiropractic office and properly document PMMTP modalities.  Students will learn how to perform both passive and active cervical and lumbar ranges of motion.  They will develop skills necessary to perform ultrasound, both high and low volt electric muscle stimulation, interferential current, use of various heating and icing modalities, pneumatic traction, intersegmental traction, and decompression.  Students will learn how to develop an X-Ray and how to reload cassettes. They will develop the skills to perform a 15-minute back-office massage.  They will gain an understanding of the concepts of passive active and resisted exercises and learn a few basic cervical and lumbar stretching and strengthening exercises.  

This 12-hour course is broken into 1-hour sections.  All lesson quizzes are multiple choice.  There are 48 possible points for this course.  Each quiz consists of 4 questions designed to test knowledge of the lesson, objectives, and section goals.  Students must successfully answer 3 of the 4 questions correctly to receive a completion for that individual section.  Students must attain an overall score of 36 out of 48 which is equivalent to 75% or better to pass the course.  Students will be allowed to retake each section quiz after re-studying the course material for a minimum of 5 minutes.  Each section has a multiple-choice test, there are 48 possible points for this course.
